The CASE I (CV) Qualification is a proctored test to demonstrate that the candidate is capable of the standards and communications used in the CASE I recovery pattern. The checkride takes approximately <1 hour to complete. It may be proctored by any member of CSG-8 of rank Lieutenant and above.
The proctor and candidate shall connect to any CSG-8 Dedicated Server that is running the CRI-NGE. The attempt will take place around CVN-75 Harry S. Truman. The candidate will start 50+ NM away from CVN-75.
The candidate must fly the entirety of the CASE I recovery pattern and demonstrate proper inbound procedure. They must do this at least once while communicating with Marshal, Tower, and Paddles (played by the proctor) using proper radio procedure. If the proctor is satisfied that proper inbound procedure was demonstrated, he/she may allow the candidate to launch directly into the upwind pattern for the remaining attempts.
To pass the CV Qualification, the candidate must catch a wire 3 times in 5 attempts. An attempt is defined as any time the exanimee's wheels touch the deck (i.e. bolters count as an attempt, wave-offs do not).
